Parliamentary Affairs Ministry rolls out Swachhata Pakhwada 2026, focus on waste management

The Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs on Wednesday launched Swachhata Pakhwada 2026, a fortnight-long cleanliness drive aimed at promoting the spirit of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan and fostering a clean and healthy work environment.

The programme was launched a day ahead of its scheduled date due to the ongoing Parliament session.

On the occasion, Secretary of the Ministry, Nikunja Bihari Dhal, administered the Swachhata Pledge to officers and officials. Addressing the gathering, he stressed the need for efficient waste management and reducing the use of plastics in daily life to protect the environment and promote a healthy lifestyle.

The Ministry said a comprehensive action plan outlining activities to be undertaken during the Pakhwada has already been shared with officials to ensure a concrete outcome framework.

Reaffirming its commitment to the ideals of Swachh Bharat, the Ministry said it will continue to promote cleanliness and sustainability through regular initiatives and campaigns.
