Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday extended warm birthday greetings to Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on his 66th birthday, lauding him as a hardworking leader who has played a vital role in village development and agricultural welfare.
In a post on X, PM Modi expressed his best wishes, saying, “Heartiest birthday wishes to Shivraj Singh Chouhan ji, a hardworking leader of BJP and my colleague in the government. He is playing an important role in the development of villages along with the welfare of the country’s agriculture and farmer brothers and sisters.”
Union Home Minister Amit Shah also extended his wishes, acknowledging Chouhan’s dedication to farmers’ welfare. He wrote on X, “Heartiest birthday wishes to my colleague in the Union Cabinet, @ChouhanShivrajji. Under the leadership of Modi ji, you are making a commendable contribution towards the welfare of farmers. I pray to Baba Mahakal for your healthy, long, and happy life.”
Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla and Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav also joined in celebrating Chouhan’s birthday. Om Birla, in his message, wished him a healthy, long, and prosperous life, while CM Yadav called him a respected leader and prayed for his well-being and continued success.
Expressing gratitude for the overwhelming wishes, Shivraj Singh Chouhan thanked everyone for their heartfelt messages and support.
Before taking on his current role in the Union Cabinet, Chouhan held the distinction of being the longest-serving Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, leading the state for nearly 16 years since 2005.
His deep connection with the people earned him immense popularity, making him one of the most influential Chief Ministers in the state’s history. His government also launched the ‘Ladli Behan Yojana’, a welfare scheme aimed at empowering women, which played a crucial role in the BJP’s electoral success in the 2023 Assembly elections.
As a dedicated leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Chouhan has held key positions, including serving as the party’s general secretary and the president of the Madhya Pradesh unit. His association with the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) dates back to his teenage years, having joined the organization at just 13 years old.
A seasoned politician, Chouhan has been elected to Parliament five times, representing Vidisha in the Lok Sabha since 1991, before assuming the role of Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister in 2005.
