Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday said that the Centre will establish fast-track courts to ensure the swift trial and stringent punishment of those involved in leaking examination papers.
In a post on X, the Prime Minister said protecting the interests of students and safeguarding their future remains the government’s highest priority.
“Nothing is more important than the welfare and future of our youth! We have decided to set up fast-track courts to ensure swift and stringent punishment for those involved in paper leaks. Have directed the concerned authorities and officials to take all necessary steps in this regard,” PM Modi said.
He added that the decision is part of a series of measures aimed at protecting students and warned that those attempting to jeopardise the future of young people would face strict action.
“Those who try to harm the future of our youth will not be spared. The welfare and future of the country’s youth is our topmost priority,” the Prime Minister said.
On Wednesday, Union Health Minister J.P. Nadda said the Centre was prepared to engage with all stakeholders on the issue of examination paper leaks and had already held discussions with representatives of the protesting group.
Addressing a press conference, Nadda said the meeting was conducted in a cordial atmosphere and that the government had asked the representatives to submit their concerns in writing.
“We listened to their views very calmly. I told them it would be better if they submitted their points in writing, and they have done so. We are ready for discussions whenever they ask,” he said.
Nadda also said the government had appealed to Sonam Wangchuk to end his hunger strike and join the dialogue process. Emphasising that examination paper leaks are a serious national concern, he said the issue should not be politicised and argued that Parliament is the most appropriate forum to deliberate on long-term policy measures to prevent such incidents.
