Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasized the significant potential and capabilities of the Indian diaspora during his address at the Nassau Coliseum in New York on Sunday. He referred to the diaspora as “Rashtradoot,” highlighting their role as strong brand ambassadors for India.
In his speech, PM Modi celebrated India’s rich diversity and the adaptability of Indians abroad. “I have always understood the capabilities of the Indian diaspora, even before I held any official position. For me, you all have been strong brand ambassadors of India. This is why I call you ‘Rashtradoot,'” he said.
He further added, “We belong to a country with dozens of languages and dialogues, representing all faiths and religions, yet we move forward united.”
During the event, PM Modi also reflected on the scale of India’s recent general elections, underscoring the democratic spirit of the nation.
This visit marks the second leg of PM Modi’s three-day trip to the United States. On Saturday, he participated in the Quad Summit, where he held bilateral meetings with US President Joe Biden, Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, and Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida. The Quad has emerged as a pivotal group of like-minded nations focused on peace and prosperity in the Indo-Pacific region.
In discussions with President Biden, PM Modi reviewed pathways to deepen the India-US Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership.
Looking ahead, PM Modi is set to interact with prominent American business leaders, vital stakeholders in strengthening the partnership between the world’s largest and oldest democracies. He will also address the Summit of the Future at the UN General Assembly in New York.
