Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired the 49th meeting of PRAGATI (Pro-Active Governance and Timely Implementation) at South Block on Wednesday, reviewing eight key infrastructure projects spanning 15 States and Union Territories with a cumulative investment exceeding ₹65,000 crore.
The reviewed projects cover critical sectors such as Mines, Railways, Water Resources, Industrial Corridors, and Power, and are seen as crucial for driving economic growth and improving public welfare. The Prime Minister directed officials to ensure strict adherence to timelines, strengthen inter-agency coordination, and promptly resolve implementation bottlenecks.
PM Modi stressed that delays in execution not only lead to cost overruns but also deny citizens timely access to essential infrastructure and services. He urged Central and State authorities to adopt a result-oriented approach to translate these projects into tangible benefits for people, advancing both ease of living and ease of doing business.
The Prime Minister also called on States and UTs to set up robust mechanisms for regular monitoring and review of flagship projects and pursue reforms that boost competitiveness, efficiency, and innovation.
PRAGATI, an ICT-enabled multi-modal platform, serves as a bridge between the Centre and States to fast-track major projects and ensure time-bound delivery.
