PM Modi embarks on visit to Poland and Ukraine to bolster bilateral ties

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday embarked on a visit to the Republic of Poland and Ukraine, signaling India’s efforts to strengthen relations with these two European countries.

The visit to Poland comes as the two nations mark 70 years of diplomatic relations. Poland is a key economic partner for India in Central Europe. In a statement, Prime Minister Modi noted the shared values of democracy and pluralism that link India and Poland, contributing to their bilateral ties.

During his visit to Poland on August 21-22, Prime Minister Modi is scheduled to meet with key Polish leaders, including Prime Minister Donald Tusk and President Andrzej Duda, to explore ways to strengthen the partnership between the two nations. He will also engage with members of the Indian community in Poland.

After Poland, the Prime Minister will visit Ukraine at the invitation of President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. This will be the first visit by an Indian Prime Minister to Ukraine.PM Modi expressed his intent to build on previous discussions with Zelenskyy, focusing on strengthening bilateral cooperation and exploring peaceful solutions to the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.

PM Modi reiterated India’s position as a friend and partner to Ukraine, hoping for a quick return to peace and stability in the region.
