PM Modi highlights ‘Gyan Bharatam Survey’ in Mann Ki Baat, urges citizens to share cultural manuscripts

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday highlighted the importance of preserving India’s rich cultural heritage during the 132nd edition of his monthly radio programme Mann Ki Baat, calling on citizens to actively participate in the ‘Gyan Bharatam Survey’.

Addressing the nation, the Prime Minister said that India’s strength lies in the collective efforts of its people and pointed to the survey as a powerful example of public participation in safeguarding the country’s cultural legacy.

The ‘Gyan Bharatam Survey’ aims to document and collect information about manuscripts from across the country. PM Modi encouraged people to contribute by sharing images and details of manuscripts through the dedicated mobile application, noting that each submission is carefully verified before being recorded.

He expressed satisfaction over the growing public response, stating that thousands of manuscripts have already been shared from different parts of India. Highlighting diverse contributions, the Prime Minister cited examples such as manuscripts in Tai script from Arunachal Pradesh, Gurmukhi manuscripts from Punjab, and ancient texts written on palm leaves and copper plates from Rajasthan.

He also mentioned valuable inputs from institutions like monasteries in Ladakh, which have shared information on rare Tibetan manuscripts, underscoring the wide cultural and linguistic diversity being captured through the initiative.

Emphasising the significance of preserving such heritage, PM Modi urged citizens to continue participating in the survey, which will remain open until mid-June. He called upon people to explore and share hidden aspects of India’s cultural wealth, reinforcing the role of collective effort in documenting the nation’s historical treasures.
