Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday highlighted the craze for Spanish football in his speech during a roadshow in Vadodara, pointing out the historic rivalry between Real Madrid and FC Barcelona.
Reflecting on Saturday’s ‘El Clasico’ clash in La Liga, PM Modi mentioned the significant interest it generates among Indian football fans. PM Modi said that the passion of supporters for both clubs is as vibrant in India as it is in Spain, showcasing the deep connection between Indian fans and the excitement surrounding Spanish football.
“Spanish football is very popular in India. Yesterday, the match between Real Madrid and Barcelona was also discussed here, and Barcelona’s spectacular victory was a significant topic of conversation. I can also tell you that there was as much banter between the fans of the two clubs in India as there would have been in Spain,” PM Modi said in his speech in Vadodara alongside his Spanish counterpart Pedro Sanchez.
Barcelona stamped their authority on Real Madrid and their stadium Santiago Bernabeu with a massive 4-0 win on Saturday.
After the win, Barcelona fans went crazy as the team defeated two of their biggest rivals Bayern Munich and Real Madrid in the same week.
