Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a series of bilateral meetings with world leaders on the sidelines of the 19th G20 Summit in Rio de Janeiro, focusing on enhancing cooperation in key areas such as defence, trade, security, and technology.

On Monday, PM Modi met with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, where the two leaders discussed ways to strengthen bilateral ties. PM Modi highlighted that the India-Italy relationship could significantly contribute to global progress. “Our talks centred around deepening ties in defence, security, trade, and technology. We also discussed ways to boost cooperation in culture, education, and other such areas,” PM Modi shared on social media platform X. “India-Italy friendship can greatly contribute to a better planet,” he added.

In addition to his meeting with Meloni, PM Modi also held discussions with Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre. These talks focused on expanding cooperation between India and Norway, particularly in areas of mutual interest.

Earlier in the summit, PM Modi engaged with leaders from Indonesia and Portugal.
