Prime Minister Narendra Modi held key bilateral meetings with Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto and Portuguese Prime Minister Luis Montenegro on the sidelines of the G20 Leaders’ Summit in Brazil. The discussions focused on enhancing cooperation in various domains such as commerce, security, healthcare, and renewable energy.
During his meeting with President Prabowo, PM Modi highlighted the 75th anniversary of India-Indonesia diplomatic relations, underscoring efforts to expand the India-Indonesia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. “Our talks focused on improving ties in commerce, security, healthcare, pharmaceuticals, and more,” PM Modi said on social media. Minister of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal emphasized India’s commitment to expanding bilateral ties with Indonesia in both traditional and new areas.
In his discussion with Prime Minister Luis Montenegro of Portugal, PM Modi highlighted the shared long-standing ties between the two nations, particularly in the fields of renewable energy and green hydrogen. “Our talks focussed on adding more vigour to our economic linkages. Sectors like renewable energy and green hydrogen offer many opportunities for more collaboration,” PM Modi wrote on X, adding that defense relations and people-to-people exchanges were also discussed.
Earlier in the day, PM Modi also met Spanish President Pedro Sanchez, further engaging with global leaders at the summit. Additionally, leaders, including PM Modi, Brazil’s President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, and China’s President Xi Jinping, posed for a “family photo” following the launch of the Global Alliance Against Hunger and Poverty, marking a significant moment in the summit’s proceedings.
