PM Modi holds bilateral talks with Emir of Qatar in New Delhi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a bilateral meeting with the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani, at the Hyderabad House in New Delhi on Tuesday. The two leaders engaged in delegation-level talks aimed at strengthening the ties between India and Qatar.

Upon the Emir’s arrival, the leaders exchanged pleasantries and shook hands before proceeding with the discussions. Prime Minister Modi was accompanied by External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, and other senior ministers. On the Qatari side, the Emir was joined by a high-level delegation, including senior officials and ministers.

Earlier in the day, Sheikh Tamim received a ceremonial welcome, including a Guard of Honour, at the forecourt of Rashtrapati Bhavan. President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Modi were present to welcome the Emir. The Qatari delegation also interacted with Indian ministers during the ceremony.

The Emir of Qatar arrived in Delhi on Monday for a two-day state visit, which includes discussions with Prime Minister Modi. In a special gesture, PM Modi personally received the Emir at Palam Technical Airport, where he described the Qatari leader as a brother and wished him a fruitful stay in India.

Following his arrival, External Affairs Minister Jaishankar met with the Emir to further discuss matters of mutual interest. The Qatar Emir’s delegation also includes a business contingent, underscoring the growing economic and trade cooperation between the two nations.

Notably, the Indian community in Qatar is the largest expatriate group in the country, contributing positively to Qatar’s progress and development. This visit is expected to strengthen the multifaceted partnership between India and Qatar, with both countries continuing to engage at high levels across a range of sectors.

India-Qatar relations have been steadily growing, supported by historical ties and regular high-level engagement, with cooperation expanding into various fields, including trade, energy, and culture.
