PM Modi inaugurates projects worth ₹4,800 crore in Amreli, Gujarat

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for several road, rail, water supply, and tourism projects worth ₹4,800 crore in Amreli, Gujarat, on Monday.

Among the key developments, PM Modi inaugurated the Bharat Mata Sarovar at Dudhala and launched various infrastructure projects in Lathi, Amreli district. Addressing the gathering, he highlighted the significance of these projects for the region’s growth.

“Today, I had the opportunity to launch and lay the foundation for development projects in Amreli. This reflects India’s vibrant culture and the celebration of progress. The inauguration of Bharat Mata Sarovar at Dudhala is a step forward in this direction,” PM Modi said.

PM Modi also recalled the origins of the Saurashtra Narmada Avtaran Irrigation (SAUNI) scheme, initiated during his tenure as Gujarat’s Chief Minister.

“When I introduced the SAUNI scheme, there was skepticism. Today, thanks to the scheme, water from the Narmada has reached 1,300 villages and 35 cities, filling dams that were once dry and delivering water to farms and villages across the region,” he added.

Highlighting future plans, PM Modi mentioned the role of the newly established Ministry of Jal Shakti, led by C.R. Patil, in addressing water scarcity not just in Gujarat but across India.

He said, “This place will attract a large number of tourists in the coming days. With lions and now a scenic lake, Amreli will flourish. The success of the Statue of Unity in Narmada, which attracted over 50 lakh tourists in a year, is an example of the potential tourism holds for the region.”

During his address, PM Modi also mentioned his recent discussions with Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez, focusing on strengthening India-Spain relations.

In a post on X, PM Modi said, “In Vadodara, I had productive talks with the President of the Government of Spain, Pedro Sanchez. We reviewed progress across various sectors, including trade, commerce, culture, technology, and innovation, and explored ways to further enhance our bilateral ties”.
