PM Modi inaugurates second phase of Kashi Tamil Sangamam 2023 at Namo Ghat in Varanasi

The event served as a platform to strengthen the emotional and creative ties between the ancient city of Kashi and the southern state of Tamil Nadu.

During the inauguration, Prime Minister Modi emphasized the profound relationship between Kashi and Tamil Nadu, describing it as both emotional and creative. The Kashi Tamil Sangamam, he noted, has evolved into a forum that provides diverse opportunities for people from both regions to interact and connect.

Highlighting the broader national perspective, Prime Minister Modi underscored the role of Kashi Tamil Sangamam in promoting the concept of “Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat” (One India, Great India). He mentioned that similar initiatives, such as Kashi Tamil Sangamam and Saurashtra Tamil Sangamam, contribute to fostering unity across the country. The celebration of the foundation days of different states in various regions and the establishment of the Sacred Sangol in parliament exemplify the spirit of a united and diverse India.

The Prime Minister also shared that artificial intelligence was employed for the first time during his speech. Live translations of his address into Tamil were made available to participants through headphones, marking a significant step towards inclusivity and accessibility. Prime Minister Modi expressed his commitment to using this technology more frequently in the future.

As part of the festivities, Prime Minister Modi also flagged off the Kanyakumari-Varanasi Tamil Sangamam train, symbolizing the connectivity and cultural exchange between the southern and northern regions of India. The event included a visit to an exhibition at Namo Ghat, showcasing the cultural confluence of Kashi and Tamil Nadu. The Prime Minister took the opportunity to interact with participants from Tamil Nadu who had gathered for the Sangamam.

The first batch of the Tamil delegation, named after the sacred river 'Ganga,' arrived in Varanasi for the 15-day-long second phase of Kashi Tamil Sangamam. This cultural exchange initiative reflects the government's commitment to promoting unity in diversity.

Prime Minister Modi's two-day visit to his parliamentary constituency includes the launch of 37 development projects worth approximately 20 thousand crore rupees on Monday. Additionally, he will flag off another Vande Bharat Express train, further enhancing connectivity and development in the region.
