PM Modi launches ‘Karmayogi Saptah’ – National Learning Week

In a significant move towards enhancing civil service capabilities, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday inaugurated the ‘Karmayogi Saptah’ – National Learning Week at the Dr. Ambedkar International Centre in New Delhi. The initiative aims to empower government employees through continuous learning, aligning with the vision of a developed India by 2047.

During his address, the Prime Minister emphasized the importance of innovative thinking and a citizen-centric approach in governance. He highlighted the progress made under Mission Karmayogi, which seeks to create a skilled workforce that drives national development. PM Modi expressed optimism about the impact of new learnings during the National Learning Week, which he believes will strengthen operational systems within the government.

PM Modi pointed out the dual nature of Artificial Intelligence (AI) as both a challenge and an opportunity for India. He advocated for leveraging AI to promote “Aspirational India,” suggesting that successful integration of technology could lead to transformative change.

The Prime Minister also stressed the significance of information equality facilitated by the digital revolution. He called for civil servants to stay updated with technological advancements to meet evolving expectations and improve governance.

The event underscored the need for collaboration among civil service training institutions, which PM Modi noted have historically operated in isolation. He urged these institutions to foster communication, share best practices, and adopt a holistic approach to learning and development.

The iGOT platform, part of Mission Karmayogi, has seen substantial participation, with over 4 million government employees registered and 1.5 crore certificates issued across more than 1,400 courses.

Mission Karmayogi, launched in September 2020, aims to cultivate a future-ready civil service, rooted in Indian values while adopting a global perspective. The National Learning Week is intended to enhance both individual and organizational capacity among civil servants, promoting a unified government approach aligned with national goals.
