Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday unveiled health sector projects worth approximately Rs 12,850 crore at the All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA) in New Delhi, coinciding with the 9th Ayurveda Day.
During the event, Union Ministers JP Nadda and Mansukh Mandaviya honoured the Prime Minister and presented the Ayushman Vaya Vandana Card to beneficiaries. Nadda highlighted the significance of the day, emphasising PM Modi’s commitment to health services and infrastructure.
The Prime Minister announced the expansion of health coverage to all senior citizens aged 70 and above under the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PM-JAY), reinforcing his dedication to quality healthcare for all.
In a boost to healthcare infrastructure, the PM inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for multiple healthcare institutions, including Phase II of India’s First All India Institute of Ayurveda, which features a Panchakarma hospital and an Ayurvedic pharmacy. He also inaugurated three medical colleges in Madhya Pradesh and expanded services at various AIIMS nationwide.
The prime minister also inaugurated an ESIC Hospital in Indore and laid the foundation for additional ESIC hospitals across several states, expected to benefit around 55 lakh ESI beneficiaries.
Highlighting the role of technology in healthcare, he launched drone services at 11 Tertiary Healthcare Institutions and Helicopter Emergency Medical Services from AIIMS Rishikesh for faster medical assistance.
Additionally, the PM introduced the U-WIN portal to digitize vaccinations for pregnant women and infants, ensuring timely administration of life-saving vaccines.
PM Modi also rolled out the nationwide health awareness campaign “Desh Ka Prakriti Parikshan Abhiyan,” along with specific action plans for states to tackle the health challenges posed by climate change.
