Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday held a telephone conversation with Mauritius Prime Minister Dr. Navinchandra Ramgoolam, during which the two leaders reviewed progress in bilateral cooperation and reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening the India-Mauritius Enhanced Strategic Partnership.
According to the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), the discussion focused on developments since their last meeting in Varanasi in September 2025, with particular emphasis on development partnership, capacity building initiatives, and people-to-people exchanges.
PM Modi reiterated India’s continued support for Mauritius’ development priorities, aligning with India’s Vision MAHASAGAR, the Neighbourhood First policy, and its broader commitment to the Global South.
The two leaders also agreed to work closely towards maintaining peace and stability in the Indian Ocean Region, underscoring the strategic importance of cooperation between the two maritime neighbours.
During the conversation, PM Modi conveyed that he looks forward to welcoming Prime Minister Ramgoolam in New Delhi for the upcoming AI Impact Summit scheduled to be held next week.
