Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday met Pawan Chandana and Naga Bharath Daka, the founders of Skyroot Aerospace, and congratulated them on the successful Vikram-1 mission, describing the interaction as an engaging discussion on India’s growing private space ecosystem.
In a post on X, the Prime Minister said the success of Vikram-1 featured prominently in the conversation, along with discussions on the company’s journey and future plans.

The success of Vikram-1 naturally featured prominently in our discussion, in addition to many other interesting subjects. Skyroot Aerospace said its founders were honoured to meet the Prime Minister and share the company’s journey, the successful Vikram-1 mission and its long-term vision for India’s space sector.
In a post on X, the company said the Prime Minister discussed its technology, long-term plans and the opportunities emerging for India’s private space ecosystem. Skyroot said his encouragement for young entrepreneurs and confidence in India’s innovation ecosystem continue to inspire the company.
The company also acknowledged the government’s reforms that opened India’s space sector to private participation and thanked IN-SPACe for enabling private spaceflight, along with ISRO for providing facilities, expertise and collaboration that have helped companies such as Skyroot transform innovative ideas into successful space missions.
“The journey has only just begun. Onwards, from India to the world,” the company said, reaffirming its commitment to advancing India’s presence in the global space industry.
