PM Modi, Netanyahu to sign key MoUs today

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Israeli counterpart Benjamin Netanyahu are set to sign several key Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) on Thursday, aimed at further strengthening the India-Israel Strategic Partnership.

PM Modi is on a two-day State Visit to Israel at the invitation of Netanyahu.

The two leaders are scheduled to jointly visit Yad Vashem before holding expanded bilateral talks at the King David Hotel in Jerusalem. Their discussions are expected to include a comprehensive review of cooperation in defence, science and technology, trade, and people-to-people exchanges, along with an exchange of views on pressing regional and global developments.

Following the talks, the two Prime Ministers will deliver joint statements to the media outlining the outcomes of their discussions.

During the visit, PM Modi is also scheduled to meet Israeli President Isaac Herzog.

On Wednesday, PM Modi received a standing ovation at the Knesset, becoming the first Indian Prime Minister to address the Israeli Parliament. The visit marks his second trip to Israel in a decade, following his landmark 2017 visit.

The Prime Minister was also conferred the Medal of the Knesset. Expressing gratitude, he said in a post on X, “I am deeply honoured to receive the Medal of the Knesset. I accept it with humility and gratitude. This honour is not a tribute to an individual, but to the enduring friendship between India and Israel. It reflects the shared values that guide our two nations.”
