Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid tributes to Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya on his birth anniversary today, recalling his vision of making the upliftment of the person standing at the last rung of society the foundation of nation-building.
The Prime Minister said Deendayal Upadhyaya gave the philosophy of Antyodaya, which continues to provide remarkable inspiration for public welfare even today.
PM Modi called upon everyone to imbibe his thoughts and ideals and reaffirm their resolve to fulfil their social and national responsibilities.
The Prime Minister wrote on X:
“राष्ट्रसेवा के सच्चे साधक पंडित दीनदयाल उपाध्याय जी को उनकी जयंती पर सादर नमन। उन्होंने समाज की अंतिम पंक्ति में खड़े व्यक्ति के उत्थान को राष्ट्र निर्माण का आधार माना और अंत्योदय की एक ऐसी विचारधारा दी, जिससे आज भी जनकल्याण की अद्भुत प्रेरणा मिलती है। आइए, इस विशेष अवसर पर उनके विचारों और आदर्शों को आत्मसात कर सामाजिक और राष्ट्रीय दायित्वों को पूरा करने का संकल्प दोहराएं।

On the occasion, in the same post, the Prime Minister also shared a Sanskrit Subhashitam, highlighting that success and innovation are driven by continuous effort and courage rather than luck.
“यथा यथा प्रयत्नः स्याद्भवेदाशु फलं तथा।
इति पौरुषमेवास्ति दैवमस्तु तदेव च॥”
“The greater a person’s effort and perseverance, the sooner they achieve success. Innovation is also founded on continuous effort. Therefore, it is not luck but dedicated action, courage and the resolve to transform new ideas into reality that pave the way for both success and innovation.”

Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya (September 25, 1916 – February 11, 1968) was a politician, philosopher, economist, sociologist, historian, and a prominent leader of the Bharatiya Jana Sangh. He propounded the concept of ‘Antyodaya ’, which means the “rise of the last person”. He stressed on ‘Antyodaya’ to rid the nation of extreme poverty, which also formed a part of his core philosophy of “Integral Humanism”.
A revered icon of Integral Humanism, Deendayal Upadhyaya was an ideologue and a guiding force for an alternative model of governance and politics. He envisioned for India a decentralized polity and self-reliant economy with the village as the base.
