Prime Minister Narendra Modi reiterated India’s commitment to a two-state solution for the Gaza crisis during his meeting with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas on the sidelines of a UN summit in New York.
In a special briefing, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri said that PM Modi emphasized India’s consistent support for Palestine at the United Nations and other international forums during his talks with President Abbas.
On his part, President Abbas expressed his gratitude to PM Modi for India’s humanitarian aid and continued political backing on the global stage.
In separate talks, PM Modi also met with To Lam, Vietnam’s newly appointed president, and extended his congratulations. PM Modi conveyed his condolences and solidarity following the devastation caused by Typhoon Yagi earlier this month, reaffirming India’s commitment to strengthening bilateral relations with Vietnam.
To Lam, in turn, thanked India for its prompt humanitarian assistance and disaster relief under Operation Sadbhav.
On Sunday, PM Modi held bilateral meetings with Nepali Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and Kuwait’s Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah.
When asked about a potential meeting between PM Modi and Bangladesh’s interim Prime Minister Muhammad Yunus, Misri said that due to differing schedules of both leaders, a meeting would not be possible.
