PM Modi receives standing ovation at Knesset, ‘Modi, Modi’ chants echo in Israeli Parliament

Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived at the Knesset on Wednesday, where Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his wife Sara Netanyahu attended an official reception ceremony in his honour.

With chants of “Modi-Modi,” Prime Minister Modi received a standing ovation upon his arrival at the Israeli Parliament. In a post on X, the Israeli Prime Minister’s Office said, “Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his wife Sara Netanyahu attend official reception ceremony at the Knesset for Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.” Prime Minister Modi is scheduled to address the Israeli Parliament shortly.

Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Modi arrived in Israel on a State Visit. In a special gesture, he was personally received at the airport in Tel Aviv by Prime Minister Netanyahu and Sara Netanyahu and was accorded a ceremonial welcome.

Following the arrival ceremony, the two Prime Ministers held a brief one-on-one meeting. Later, at his hotel, Prime Minister Modi was given a warm and enthusiastic reception by members of the Indian community and representatives of the Jewish Indian diaspora. The welcome featured vibrant cultural performances by Indian and Israeli artistes, symbolising the enduring friendship between the two nations.
