Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday shared an article by Union Minister of State Prataprao Jadhav highlighting the growing role of homeopathy in India’s health and wellness system.
In a post on X, the Prime Minister said the article explains how homeopathy has evolved into an integral part of India’s pluralistic healthcare framework while offering a holistic and patient-centric approach to treatment.
“In this article, Union MoS @mpprataprao explains how homoeopathy has evolved into an integral part of India’s pluralistic health and wellness system, offering a holistic and patient-centric approach,” the Prime Minister wrote.
He also noted that the article highlights how homeopathy, with its strong community connect and sustainable approach, can contribute to the broader goal of building a Viksit Bharat.
World Homoeopathy Day was observed on April 9. In his article, Jadhav said the occasion offers an opportunity to reflect on the expanding role of homoeopathy in India’s healthcare system. He noted that homoeopathy is increasingly contributing to the country’s people-centred and integrative model of care, supported by a growing institutional network, a large number of practitioners and its expanding role in public health delivery.
He said homoeopathy in India has evolved into a structured and widely accepted medical system, with 291 homoeopathic colleges and more than 3.6 lakh registered practitioners across the country. Jadhav added that with its focus on individualised treatment, preventive care and cost-effective therapies, homoeopathy aligns with the goal of sustainable healthcare and continues to strengthen India’s pluralistic health system through research, regulation and wider public acceptance.
Homeopathy is one of the systems of medicine practiced in India under the AYUSH framework, which includes Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homeopathy. The government has been promoting these traditional and alternative systems as part of a broader effort to strengthen preventive and holistic healthcare in the country.
