Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday accused Congress of practicing appeasement politics, asserting that the BJP-led NDA government works for “shantushtikaran” (total saturation) and not “tushtikaran” (appeasement).
In his reply to the motion of thanks to the President’s Address in the Rajya Sabha, PM Modi reaffirmed the government’s commitment to the ideal of “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas”, stressing that the administration aims to utilize India’s resources efficiently to ensure that schemes reach the beneficiaries without any pilferage.
“We have taken an approach of saturation. We’ve ensured that India’s resources are optimally utilized, and that government schemes reach the people without corruption. In the last decade, we’ve worked with the ideal of ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas,’ and that has brought significant results,” PM Modi said.
The Prime Minister also criticized the Congress for repeatedly denying the demand for constitutional status to the OBC Commission. “For three decades, OBC MPs from both Houses and all parties had been requesting the government to give constitutional status to the OBC Commission. It was denied time and again, as it did not suit their politics at that time. After decades of waiting, we gave constitutional status to this Commission, respecting the community’s demands,” PM Modi said.
Touching upon the proposals in the union budget, PM Modi highlighted the government’s focus on smaller segments of society, including the leather and footwear industries, which benefit the poor. “For example, the toy industry, which employs many poor people, has seen a massive change. We used to import toys in the past, but today, we’re exporting them,” he added.
The Prime Minister also pointed to regions that had long been neglected. “Villages on our borders were ignored for decades. We changed our approach and identified them as ‘first villages,’ focusing specifically on their development. During our last term, Cabinet Ministers were sent to these villages, where they stayed for days to understand and address the problems faced by the people,” he said.
