PM Modi thanks Italian PM Giorgia Meloni for warm birthday wishes

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday thanked Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni for her greetings on his 75th birthday, affirming that India deeply values Italy’s friendship.

In a post on X, PM Modi said, “Thank you Prime Minister Meloni for your warm wishes. Deeply appreciate Italy’s friendship and look forward to strengthening it further.”

Meloni, in her message, praised the Indian leader’s determination and vision, calling him a source of inspiration. “Happy 75th birthday to the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. His strength, his determination, and his ability to lead millions of people are a source of inspiration. With friendship and esteem, I wish him health and energy to continue leading India toward a bright future and to further strengthen the relations between our nations,” she posted on X while sharing a photograph with PM Modi.

The two leaders had recently spoken over the phone on September 10, reaffirming their joint commitment to deepen the India–Italy Strategic Partnership. During the conversation, they reviewed cooperation across defence, security, investment, space, education and counter-terrorism, while also expressing support for an early conclusion of the India–EU trade agreement and the India–Middle East–Europe Economic Corridor (IMEEEC).

PM Modi and PM Meloni also discussed regional and global issues, reiterating the need for a peaceful resolution of the Ukraine conflict.

Both leaders last met on the sidelines of the G7 Summit in Canada earlier this year, where they expressed confidence in further strengthening bilateral ties.

Their interactions have drawn attention online, with many social media users celebrating the growing camaraderie between the two leaders.
