Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to co-chair the AI Summit with French President Emmanuel Macron and will address the India-France CEOs Forum during his visit to France, scheduled from February 10 to February 12.
Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri, in a press briefing on Friday, emphasized the growing significance of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and highlighted India’s expectation that AI applications should be designed, developed, deployed, and used in a safe, humane, responsible, and trustworthy manner.
“PM will co-chair the AI Summit alongside President Macron of France. The PM will arrive in Paris in the evening of February 10. He will then attend a dinner hosted by President Macron at the Élysée Palace. On February 11, the Prime Minister will co-chair the AI Summit alongside President Macron. AI is bound to have—and is already having—a profound impact across all sectors of the economy, politics, society, and governance. Therefore, a summit like this is both significant and timely,” Misri said.
“We are particularly interested in AI applications that are designed, developed, deployed, and used in a safe, humane, responsible, and trustworthy manner,” he added.
Following the AI Summit, PM Modi will address the India-France CEOs Forum and will also travel to Marseille.
“After the AI Summit, there will be a bilateral component to the visit, during which PM Modi and President Macron will address the India-France CEOs Forum. PM Modi will then travel to Marseille on the evening of February 11, where President Macron will also host a dinner in his honor,” Misri said.
On February 12, PM Modi will visit a war cemetery to pay tribute to Indian soldiers who fought in World War I.
Misri also informed that PM Modi will visit Cadarache, the site of the International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor (ITER), a major high-science project in which India is a key partner along with several other countries.
“The two leaders will visit Cadarache, which houses the International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor (ITER)—a significant scientific collaboration in which India is a partner alongside a few other countries,” Misri said.
This upcoming trip will mark PM Modi’s sixth official visit to France.
