Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for several major railway projects across the country on Monday, according to a release from the Prime Minister’s Office. The virtual event, scheduled to begin at 12:30 pm via video conferencing, will mark a significant step toward enhancing the nation’s railway infrastructure and connectivity.
A key highlight of the event will be the inauguration of the new Jammu Railway Division, which will significantly improve transport infrastructure in Jammu and Kashmir and surrounding regions. The division, covering a total of 742.1 kilometres, includes the Pathankot – Jammu – Udhampur – Srinagar – Baramulla, Bhogpur Sirwal – Pathankot, Batala – Pathankot, and Pathankot to Joginder Nagar railway sections. This project is expected to not only boost connectivity within Jammu and Kashmir but also bridge the region with the rest of the country, fulfilling long-pending aspirations. Moreover, it will generate employment opportunities, foster tourism, and contribute to the overall socio-economic development of the area.
In Telangana, PM Modi will inaugurate the Charlapalli New Terminal Station in the Medchal-Malkajgiri district. Developed at a cost of approximately Rs 413 crore, this modern, environment-friendly terminal is designed to ease congestion at existing terminals such as Secunderabad, Hyderabad, and Kacheguda. The new facility, equipped with enhanced passenger amenities and a second entry, will further improve the railway infrastructure in the region and cater to the growing transportation demand.
Additionally, the Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone for the Rayagada Railway Division Building of East Coast Railway. This development will strengthen the connectivity between Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, and surrounding regions, leading to greater socio-economic growth and better access for commuters.
