PM Modi to launch ‘Jal Sanchay Jan Bhagidari initiative’ on Friday

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to virtually inaugurate the ‘Jal Sanchay Jan Bhagidari’ initiative on Friday. The event, to be held in Surat, Gujarat.

The initiative, spearheaded by the Ministry of Jal Shakti in collaboration with the Gujarat government, is designed to strengthen water conservation efforts with a focus on community engagement. Following the success of the earlier ‘Jal Sanchay’ programme, the new initiative seeks to make water conservation a collective responsibility, bringing together citizens, local bodies, industries, and various stakeholders.

Central to the initiative is the construction of approximately 24,800 rainwater harvesting structures across Gujarat. These installations are expected to improve water retention and ensure long-term water sustainability, addressing the state’s growing water security concerns through collaborative efforts.
