PM Modi to launch Rs 3,880 crore development projects in Varanasi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lay the foundation stone and inaugurate multiple development projects worth over Rs 3,880 crore in Varanasi on Friday.  

In line with his commitment to infrastructure development, especially improving road connectivity in the city, he will launch a range of road projects. These include the foundation stone for a road bridge between the Varanasi Ring Road and Sarnath, flyovers at Bhikharipur and Manduadih crossings, and a highway underpass tunnel on NH-31 near the Varanasi International Airport—together valued at over Rs 980 crore.  

According to the Prime Minister’s Office, PM Modi will inaugurate two 400 KV and one 220 KV transmission substations, along with associated transmission lines, in Jaunpur, Chandauli, and Ghazipur districts, with a combined worth exceeding Rs 1,045 crore.  

Additionally, he will lay the foundation stone for a 220 KV substation at Chaukaghat (Varanasi), a 132 KV substation in Ghazipur, and expansion work for Varanasi’s electricity distribution system worth over Rs 775 crore.  

To enhance facilities for security personnel, the Prime Minister will inaugurate a Transit Hostel at the Police Line and new barracks at the PAC Ramnagar Campus. He will also initiate the construction of administrative buildings at several police stations and a residential hostel within the Police Line.  

In the education sector, PM Modi will inaugurate a Government Polytechnic College in Pindra, the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Government College in Barki village, 356 rural libraries, and 100 Anganwadi centres.  

He will further lay the foundation stone for the renovation of 77 primary school buildings under the Smart City Mission and the construction of a new facility for Kasturba Gandhi School in Cholapur.  

To boost sports infrastructure, he will initiate the development of a synthetic hockey turf with floodlights and a spectator gallery at Uday Pratap College, along with a mini stadium in Shivpur.  

Other key projects include the redevelopment of Samne Ghat and Shastri Ghat on the Ganga River, 130 rural drinking water schemes under the Jal Jeevan Mission worth over Rs 345 crore, infrastructure improvements across six municipal wards, and installation of sculptures and landscaping at key city sites.  

Further, the Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone for an MSME Unity Mall to support artisans, infrastructure enhancements under the Transport Nagar Scheme at Mohansarai, a 1 MW solar power plant at WTP Bhelupur, community halls in 40 gram panchayats, and park beautification initiatives across the city.  

As part of social welfare efforts, senior citizens will be handed Ayushman Vay Vandana cards for the first time in over 70 years. The Prime Minister will also distribute Geographical Indication (GI) certificates to local products such as tabla, painting, thandai, and tiranga barfi.  

In addition, he will transfer bonuses amounting to over Rs 105 crore to milk suppliers in Uttar Pradesh affiliated with Banas Dairy. 

In a post on X, PM Modi shared that he would be inaugurating and laying foundation stones for a series of projects aimed at bolstering infrastructure and improving public services in his parliamentary constituency of Varanasi.  

“With the blessings of Baba Vishwanath, I have always been inspired to give a new impetus to development work in Varanasi. In this connection, tomorrow at around 11 am, I will have the privilege of inaugurating and laying the foundation stone of many projects related to roads, electricity, education and tourism here.”

Following the event in Varanasi, the Prime Minister will visit Anandpur Dham in Isagarh Tehsil of Ashoknagar district, Madhya Pradesh.
