PM Modi to visit Jordan, Ethiopia and Oman from December 15–18

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will embark on a three-nation visit to Jordan, Ethiopia and Oman from December 15 to 18, aimed at strengthening India’s ties with key partners in West Asia and Africa.

The visit begins in Jordan on Monday at the invitation of King Abdullah II bin Al Hussein. During his stay, the Prime Minister will hold talks with the Jordanian monarch to review the full range of bilateral relations and share perspectives on regional developments. The visit coincides with the 75th anniversary of diplomatic ties between the two countries, offering an opportunity to deepen cooperation and explore new areas of partnership. Both sides are expected to focus on promoting peace, stability and prosperity in the region.

From Jordan, the Prime Minister will travel to Ethiopia on December 16 for his first State visit to the country. He will meet Ethiopian Prime Minister Dr. Abiy Ahmed Ali for discussions covering all aspects of the India–Ethiopia partnership. The two countries, positioned as partners in the Global South, are expected to reaffirm their shared commitment to closer cooperation and development-focused engagement.

The final leg of the tour will take the Prime Minister to Oman from December 17 to 18, at the invitation of Sultan Haitham bin Tarik. This will be his second visit to the Sultanate and comes as the two countries mark 70 years of diplomatic relations. India and Oman enjoy a long-standing Strategic Partnership rooted in historical ties, trade links and a strong Indian community presence. During the visit, both sides will review cooperation across sectors including trade, investment, energy, defence, security, technology, agriculture and culture. They will also exchange views on regional and global issues.

The three-nation tour is expected to reinforce India’s engagement with West Asia and Africa and further advance partnerships based on mutual growth, stability and shared interests.
