Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit Maharashtra on January 15, where he will dedicate three advanced naval combatants and inaugurate the ISKCON temple in Navi Mumbai.
On Wednesday, at approximately 10:30 AM, the prime minister will commission three frontline naval combatants: INS Surat, INS Nilgiri, and INS Vaghsheer, at the Naval Dockyard in Mumbai. These commissioning ceremonies mark a major milestone in India’s defense capabilities.
INS Surat, the largest and most sophisticated destroyer in the world, is the fourth and final ship of the P15B Guided Missile Destroyer Project. It boasts 75% indigenous content and is equipped with cutting-edge weapon-sensor packages and network-centric capabilities.
INS Nilgiri, the first ship in the P17A Stealth Frigate Project, is a testament to India’s naval design expertise and features advanced stealth technology and enhanced survivability.
INS Vaghsheer, a sixth submarine under the P75 Scorpene Project, reflects India’s expanding capabilities in submarine construction, built in collaboration with France’s Naval Group.
Later in the day, at around 3:30 PM, PM Modi will inaugurate the Sri Sri Radha Madanmohanji Temple, an ISKCON initiative, located in Kharghar, Navi Mumbai. Spread across nine acres, the temple complex includes several deities, a Vedic education center, a proposed museum, auditorium, and healing center. This project aims to spread peace, harmony, and universal brotherhood, drawing from the teachings of the Vedas.
