PM Modi to visit Maharashtra tomorrow to inaugurate development projects

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit Maharashtra’s Palghar and Mumbai tomorrow to inaugurate and lay the foundation stones for several major development initiatives.

The visit will commence at approximately 11 AM, when the Prime Minister will address the Global Fintech Fest (GFF) 2024 at the Jio World Convention Centre in Mumbai. This prominent event, organized by the Payments Council of India, the National Payments Corporation of India, and the Fintech Convergence Council, will bring together around 800 speakers from various sectors, including policymakers, regulators, senior bankers, industry leaders, and academicians from India and abroad. The conference will feature over 350 sessions, showcasing the latest innovations in the fintech sector. Additionally, more than 20 thought leadership reports and white papers will be unveiled, offering valuable insights into the industry.

Following his address at the GFF, the Prime Minister will proceed to the CIDCO ground in Palghar at around 1:30 PM, where he will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for a series of development projects.

One of the major highlights of the visit will be the foundation stone laying of Vadhvan Port on August 30, 2024. The project, with an estimated cost of around Rs. 76,000 crores, is poised to become one of India’s largest deep-water ports. Located near Dahanu town in the Palghar district, Vadhvan Port aims to establish a world-class maritime gateway that will enhance the nation’s trade and economic growth. The port is designed to accommodate large container vessels, offer deeper drafts, and handle ultra-large cargo ships. Equipped with cutting-edge technology and infrastructure, it will provide direct connectivity to international shipping routes, reducing transit times and costs. The project is expected to generate extensive employment opportunities, boost local businesses, and contribute to the region’s economic development.

Vadhvan Port’s development will adhere to sustainable practices, focusing on minimizing environmental impact and following stringent ecological standards. Once operational, the port will bolster India’s maritime connectivity and strengthen its position as a global trade hub.

Prime Minister Modi will inaugurate and lay the foundation stones for 218 fisheries projects valued at approximately Rs. 1,560 crores. These initiatives aim to enhance infrastructure and productivity within the fisheries sector across the nation, potentially generating over five lakh employment opportunities.

Furthermore, the Prime Minister will launch the National Roll Out of the Vessel Communication and Support System, a project costing around Rs. 360 crores. This initiative, featuring indigenous technology developed by ISRO, will see the phased installation of 1 lakh transponders on mechanized and motorized fishing vessels across 13 coastal states and union territories. The system is expected to improve communication, facilitate rescue operations, and ensure the safety of fishermen at sea.

Additional projects to be inaugurated include the development of fishing harbors and Integrated Aquaparks, alongside the adoption of advanced technologies such as the Recirculatory Aquaculture System and Biofloc. These projects, to be implemented across multiple states, aim to enhance fish production, improve post-harvest management, and create sustainable livelihoods for millions involved in the fisheries sector.
