PM Narendra Modi lauds DPI’s role in inclusive growth at Voice of Global South Summit

Prime Minister Narendra Modi lauded the transformative impact of Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) in fostering inclusive development during the inaugural leaders’ session of the Voice of Global South Summit 3.0 on Saturday. Describing DPI’s role in inclusive growth as revolutionary, PM Modi remarked, “The contribution of Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) to inclusive growth is no less than a revolution.”

He said that under India’s G-20 presidency, the creation of the Global DPI Repository marked the first-ever multilateral consensus on DPI. PM Modi further announced agreements with 12 partners from the Global South to share the ‘India Stack,’ reflecting India’s commitment to global cooperation.

PM Modi revealed that India has established a ‘Social Impact Fund,’ with an initial contribution of USD 25 million. He urged the nations of the Global South to come together, learn from each other’s experiences, and collaborate to achieve common objectives.

The Prime Minister spoke about the country’s efforts in promoting mutual trade, inclusive growth, and women-led development, alongside advancing sustainable development goals (SDGs). He also pointed out the importance of infrastructure, digital, and energy connectivity in enhancing cooperation, highlighting initiatives like Mission LiFE that prioritize renewable energy in India and partner nations.

PM Modi also underscored India’s contributions to financial inclusion through the Unified Payments Interface (UPI) and progress made in education, capacity building, and skilling through the Global South Excellence Centre. He reiterated India’s commitment to global health security, citing government initiatives like Arogya Maitri’s vision.

The Prime Minister called for a unified and positive approach to ensure that the voices and aspirations of the Global South are adequately represented in global forums. Reflecting on India’s G-20 presidency, he noted that in 2022, India aimed to reshape the organization, including the inclusion of the African Union.

“The Voice of Global South Summit has become a crucial platform for openly discussing development-related challenges and priorities,” PM Modi said.
