PM participates in 350th Shaheedi Diwas programme of Guru Tegh Bahadur in Kurukshetra

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday participated in a special programme in Kurukshetra commemorating the 350th Shaheedi Diwas of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji, the ninth Sikh Guru.

The Prime Minister witnessed cultural performances at the venue, including a sand art presentation depicting key moments from the life of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji. He will address the gathering and release a special coin and commemorative stamp to mark the occasion.

Earlier, the Prime Minister inaugurated ‘Panchjanya’, constructed in honour of the sacred conch associated with Lord Krishna. He was accompanied by Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini. He also visited the Mahabharata Anubhav Kendra, an immersive centre showcasing installations inspired by the Mahabharata.

Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji is revered as “Hind Di Chadar” for his supreme sacrifice in defending faith and protecting humanity. His teachings and 115 hymns included in the Guru Granth Sahib continue to inspire generations.

The Prime Minister arrived in Kurukshetra after participating in a ceremony in Ayodhya, where he hoisted the saffron Dharma Dhwaj atop the shikhar of the Ram Janmabhoomi Temple. The flag, featuring sacred symbols including Om, the Sun and the Kovidara tree, symbolises values associated with the Sanatan tradition.

During the ceremony in Ayodhya, the Prime Minister said the installation of the Dharma Dhwaj symbolised fulfilment of a centuries-old cultural resolve.
