President Droupadi Murmu greets teachers on eve of Teacher’s Day

On the eve of Teacher’s Day, President Droupadi Murmu delivered a heartfelt message to educators across the nation, emphasizing the profound responsibility they bear in shaping the minds of future generations. She underscored the critical role teachers play in guiding students toward holistic excellence and preparing them to lead the country into the future.

President Murmu reminded the nation that Teacher’s Day, celebrated on September 5, coincides with the birth anniversary of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan. A distinguished scholar, philosopher, and former President of India, Dr. Radhakrishnan remains a beacon of inspiration for the entire country. The President highlighted that children, as the future of India, learn essential life skills and values as students. In their role as mentors, teachers have the unique ability to mold these students into the leaders who will shape the nation’s destiny.

In her address, President Murmu called on teachers to instill moral values, critical thinking skills, and a sense of societal responsibility in their students. She also noted that, as outlined in the National Education Policy 2020, modern teaching methods and the effective use of technology can empower students to lead meaningful lives and contribute to the nation’s development.

In a special gesture to honor teachers, the Amrit Udyan within the Rashtrapati Bhavan complex will be exclusively open to educators on Teacher’s Day. Teachers are invited to enter through Gate No. 35, located near North Avenue Road, with a complimentary shuttle service provided from the Central Secretariat Metro Station.

The Summer Annual Edition 2024 of Amrit Udyan, which opened to the public on August 16 and will run until September 15 (excluding Mondays), welcomes visitors daily from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Entry is free, and visitors can book their slots online through the Rashtrapati Bhavan website. Walk-in visitors can also register at the self-service kiosk located outside Gate No. 35. To date, more than 1.5 lakh visitors have explored Amrit Udyan during this year’s Summer Annual Edition.
