President Droupadi Murmu received Hereditary Prince Alois and Princess Sophie of Liechtenstein at Rashtrapati Bhavan on Tuesday, October 27, and hosted a banquet in their honour.

Welcoming Hereditary Prince Alois and his delegation to India, the President said his regular engagement and connection with India reflected his long-standing commitment to bilateral relations between India and Liechtenstein.

President Highlights Growing Bilateral Cooperation

President Murmu noted that cooperation between India and Liechtenstein continues to grow across sectors such as trade, investment, science and technology, innovation, culture, and people-to-people ties.

She said that strengthening the economic partnership between the two countries had become more important than ever in the present uncertain geopolitical and geoeconomic landscape.

The President said the Trade and Economic Partnership Agreement between India and the European Free Trade Association, concluded in 2024, had opened up new avenues to deepen trade and investment relations.

She expressed confidence that the commitment to facilitate $100 billion in investments in India and create 1 million direct jobs over the next 15 years would provide a robust foundation for expanding cooperation across shared priorities.

Focus on Investment, Advanced Manufacturing and Skill Development

President Murmu noted that various companies from Liechtenstein were showing keen interest in expanding their collaboration with India in sectors such as advanced manufacturing, Fintech, agricultural research, sustainable infrastructure, healthcare, and material sciences.

She said there was significant potential for skill development and vocational training, particularly through partnerships between industry and educational institutions.

The President said that combining Liechtenstein’s expertise in advanced manufacturing, innovation, and financial services with India’s skilled workforce, manufacturing capacity, and rapidly growing market could help develop a mutually beneficial partnership.

The two leaders agreed that close cooperation between India and Liechtenstein could bring immense benefits to their people. They also agreed that the visit would contribute to further strengthening relations between the two countries.
