“Heartiest congratulations to Harjinder Kaur on clinching the Silver Medal in the Women’s 69kg weightlifting event at the Glasgow Commonwealth Games 2026. You have made India proud with your spirited performance. May you continue to scale new heights of success,” she said.

India enjoyed another successful day at the Glasgow Commonwealth Games, with Gulveer Singh scripting history and Harjinder Kaur adding another silver to the country’s tally. The day also saw three Indian boxers enter the semifinals, ensuring at least three more medals for the country.

Gulveer Singh clocked 27:49.78 in the men’s 10,000m final to finish second behind Australia’s Ky Robinson. His silver marked India’s maiden podium finish in the event at the Commonwealth Games.

Earlier in the day, Harjinder Kaur claimed silver in the women’s 69kg weightlifting competition with a career-best total lift of 227kg, comprising 101kg in the snatch and 126kg in the clean and jerk. The Punjab lifter finished behind Canada’s Charlotte Simoneau and also rewrote the Commonwealth Games snatch record twice during the competition, improving on the bronze medal she had won at the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games.
