President Droupadi Murmu graced the convocation ceremony of Guru Jambheshwar University of Science and Technology in Hisar, Haryana, on Monday. The event witnessed the celebration of academic excellence and achievements of students, faculty, and the university at large.
In her address, the president highlighted the pivotal role of higher education institutions in preparing the younger generation to meet the evolving global demands. She emphasized that it is a challenging yet vital task for educational institutions to equip students with the skills and knowledge needed for a rapidly changing world. The president also underscored the importance of ensuring that the benefits of education and technology reach the rural and underdeveloped areas of India.
Murmu was pleased to observe that Guru Jambheshwar University has a significant number of students from smaller towns and rural regions. She urged these students to take on the responsibility of raising awareness about the importance of education in their villages and cities, encouraging others to pursue quality education.
The president also lauded the university for its substantial contributions to world-class research. She acknowledged the significant achievements made by its students and faculty members in research projects and innovations. The university’s specialized departments for incubation, start-ups, patent filing, and research projects were praised for nurturing a spirit of innovation and entrepreneurship. President Murmu expressed her confidence that such initiatives would further enhance India’s standing as a global knowledge superpower.
Murmu encouraged students to adopt an entrepreneurial mindset, which she believes would allow them to take risks, find innovative solutions to problems, and contribute to societal progress.
The President honoured the legacy of Guru Jambheshwar Ji, after whom the university is named. Guru Jambheshwar Ji was a great saint and philosopher who advocated for scientific thinking, ethical living, and environmental protection. He believed that humans have a moral duty to protect nature and treat all living beings with compassion and kindness. The president noted that these teachings are particularly relevant in today’s context, as the world seeks solutions to pressing environmental issues.
Murmu expressed her confidence that the university’s teachers and students would continue to contribute to the progress of society and the nation by adhering to the principles laid down by Guru Jambheshwar Ji.
