President of India graces silver jubilee of Chhattisgarh legislative assembly

The President of India, Droupadi Murmu, attended the silver jubilee celebration of the Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly in Raipur on Monday. In her address, the President commended the Assembly for upholding high standards of democratic traditions, according to a statement from the President’s Secretariat.

Highlighting the Assembly’s unique conduct, President Murmu praised its rule of automatic suspension for members who disrupt proceedings by entering the well of the House. She noted with pride that this rule had never required enforcement by the Marshall during the past 25 years, reflecting an exemplary commitment to parliamentary decorum. “The Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly has set a shining example of excellent parliamentary conduct, not only for the rest of India but also for democratic systems across the world,” she remarked.

President Murmu also emphasized the importance of women’s empowerment in her speech, urging women legislators to support and uplift other women. She stated that by promoting women in various fields, whether they are teachers, officers, social workers, entrepreneurs, scientists, artists, labourers, or farmers, a path for their growth would be created. “When women empower each other, society becomes stronger and more sensitive,” the President said, recognizing the hard work of women who balance household responsibilities with professional achievements.

Touching upon the developmental potential of Chhattisgarh, the President pointed out the state’s rich resources in industries like cement, minerals, steel, aluminum, and power generation. She praised the natural beauty of Chhattisgarh, with its lush forests, waterfalls, and other scenic offerings, and called upon the state’s policymakers to ensure sustainable development while preserving the environment.

Additionally, she urged leaders to ensure that all sections of society are included in the state’s journey toward modern development.
