Prime Minister extends greetings on Valmiki Jayanti

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday extended greetings to the nation on the occasion of Valmiki Jayanti, highlighting the enduring influence of Maharishi Valmiki’s teachings on Indian society and family life throughout the ages.

In a post on X, PM Modi said, “Heartfelt greetings to all fellow citizens on the occasion of Maharishi Valmiki Jayanti. Since ancient times, his pure and ideal thoughts have had a deep influence on our society and family life. His ideas, based on social harmony, will continue to inspire and enlighten the people of our nation forever.”

Valmiki Jayanti is observed every year to honour Maharishi Valmiki, the revered sage and author of the Ramayana, one of India’s oldest and most respected epics. His life and works continue to inspire generations through messages of truth, righteousness, and compassion.

The Prime Minister noted that Maharishi Valmiki’s thoughts, rooted in social harmony and moral values, continue to guide people towards unity and understanding. His contribution to literature and philosophy remains a foundation for Indian cultural and spiritual life.

Across the country, people mark Valmiki Jayanti with prayers, readings from the Ramayana, and community gatherings to remember his timeless teachings. The day serves as a reminder of the values of equality, justice, and respect for all, which form the essence of Maharishi Valmiki’s message.
