PM Modi to visit Malaysia on Saturday, hold bilateral talks

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will pay an official visit to Malaysia from February 7 to 8, at the invitation of Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said in a statement.

This will be Prime Minister Modi’s third visit to Malaysia and the first since India and Malaysia elevated their bilateral ties to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in August 2024.

During the visit, the Prime Minister will hold bilateral discussions with his Malaysian counterpart to review progress in relations and explore ways to further strengthen cooperation. He is also scheduled to interact with members of the Indian community in Malaysia, as well as representatives from industry and business.

According to the MEA, the India–Malaysia relationship is multi-dimensional and continues to expand across sectors. The forthcoming visit will provide an opportunity for both leaders to review cooperation across a wide range of areas, including trade and investment, defence, security and maritime cooperation, digital and financial technology, energy, healthcare, education, culture, tourism and people-to-people ties.

India and Malaysia share long-standing relations rooted in historical, civilisational and cultural links. The partnership is further strengthened by the presence of a 2.9 million-strong Indian diaspora in Malaysia, which is the third largest Indian community in the world.
