Heavy rains have lashed parts of Delhi, Noida, Greater Noida and several others parts of the country, creating havoc, waterlogging roads and low lying areas, and forcing schools in some parts to be shut down. Delhi witnessed moderate to heavy rainfall this morning. The vehicular traffic was also affected due to the lack of visibility on the roads. 

Light to moderate and fairly widespread to widespread rainfall with isolated heavy rainfall is very likely over Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana and West Uttar Pradesh during till July 29, over Himachal Pradesh till July 28, over East Uttar Pradesh till 29th, over East Rajasthan till July 27, over West Rajasthan till 26th and Jammu and Kashmir till 27th July, 2023.

Due to rain and waterlogging, all schools in Noida and Greater Noida are closed today (Wednesday), according to the Gautam Buddh Nagar district administration. Heavy rains fell in parts of Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR) this morning, causing flooding in numerous localities. 'Due to rains and waterlogging, District Magistrate Manish Kumar Verma has ordered the closure of all schools up to Class 12 for today,' stated Dharmveer Singh, the District Inspector of Schools.

Meanwhile, water gushing from the swelling Hindon river reached the low-lying region, submerging almost 350 cars of online cab aggregator Ola stored at a trash yard in Greater Noida, police said and added that the dump yard is located in the floodplains of the Old Sutiyana hamlet in the Ecotech-3 region. Pictures and videos of the dump yard, allegedly showing hundreds of automobiles inundated by floodwater, have also circulated on the Internet.

According to district administration authorities, hundreds of individuals in the Hindon floodplains have been affected by the overflowing river and have been relocated to shelter houses.

District Magistrate Manish Verma, Additional District Magistrate Atul Kumar, and Deputy Commissioner of Police Anil Kumar Yadav reviewed the situation at shelter houses in Chhijarsi, Chotpur, and Haibatpur. Pankaj Singh, MLA for Noida, also visited the affected areas and spoke with residents as well as government authorities.

The district administration has urged inhabitants of low-lying regions along the Hindon River to relocate to safer areas or shelter houses, stating that the government is providing all available assistance to those affected.
