Rajya Sabha Chairman C. P. Radhakrishnan on Friday administered the oath of office to newly elected member Nitish Kumar and newly nominated member Harivansh Narayan Singh at the Parliament House.
Nitish Kumar, representing Bihar, took the oath in Hindi after being elected to the Rajya Sabha. His induction marks a significant transition in his political career as he moves from state politics to the national legislature.
Harivansh Narayan Singh, who was recently nominated to the Upper House, also took the oath in Hindi. A seasoned parliamentarian, he continues his association with the Rajya Sabha, where he has been serving as Deputy Chairman since 2018.
Dignitaries Present
Several senior leaders and officials were present on the occasion, including Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, Health Minister and Leader of the House Jagat Prakash Nadda, Minister of State for Law and Justice Arjun Ram Meghwal, and Minister of Panchayati Raj Rajiv Ranjan Singh.
Other attendees included Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary, Members of Parliament Jairam Ramesh, Rajeev Shukla, and Sanjay Kumar Jha, as well as Rajya Sabha Secretary-General P. C. Mody and senior officials of the secretariat.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated Kumar and Harivansh after the oath-taking ceremony.
