Self-reliance key to India’s progress, says PM Modi in Ahmedabad

Prime Minister Narendra Modi today reaffirmed that self-reliance and Swadeshi are the foundation of building a developed India. Speaking in Ahmedabad, the Prime Minister invoked the ideals of Mahatma Gandhi, whom he described as the “Charkhadhari Mohan” of Sabarmati.

“India has made self-reliance the foundation of building a developed nation. This is possible only through the strength of our farmers, fishermen, livestock rearers and entrepreneurs,” PM Modi said.

He criticised those who ruled India for decades in Bapu’s name but failed to implement his Swadeshi mantra. “For sixty to sixty-five years, the country was kept dependent on foreign nations to manipulate imports and enable corruption,” he alleged.

The Prime Minister assured that his government will continue to safeguard the interests of small entrepreneurs, farmers, shopkeepers and livestock rearers. “From the soil of Ahmedabad, I want to affirm that the welfare of small entrepreneurs and farmers is paramount for me. We will not allow any harm to their interests,” he stressed.

PM Modi said Gujarat has played a leading role in giving momentum to the Aatmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyan, with progress across industries including dairy, manufacturing, green energy, and pharmaceuticals.

“Gujarat is providing tremendous momentum to the Aatmanirbhar Bharat campaign. This progress is the result of two decades of dedicated effort,” the Prime Minister emphasized.
