Sharjah Trade Mission Heads to India to Boost Economic Ties

The Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) is leading a high-profile trade delegation to India as India and the UAE mark two years of the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement. The delegation will visit India from May 5-10 to explore new investment opportunities and strengthen economic cooperation between Sharjah and India. Headed by SCCI Chairman Abdullah Sultan Al Owais, the mission includes top chamber officials and aims to facilitate direct meetings between Sharjah and Indian business communities in the major cities of Chennai and Mumbai.

During the week-long visit, the delegation will hold business forums, meetings with entrepreneurs, site visits to key companies, and work to promote Sharjah’s investor-friendly policies and initiatives. The agenda is packed with events to connect the two business communities and identify areas for enhanced trade and investment.

“This mission underscores our commitment to boosting economic ties with India,” said Mohammad Ahmed Amin Al Awadi, Director-General of SCCI. Over 18,500 Indian companies currently operate in Sharjah, reflecting the robust economic partnership between the two sides. Following the landmark visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to the UAE in August 2015, bilateral relations between the two countries were elevated to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, and India and the UAE signed the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement, which came into force on May 1st, 2022.
