Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh will launch a dedicated web portal on Wednesday to monitor the progress of Special Campaign 6, which will focus on institutionalising cleanliness, reducing pendency and strengthening e-waste management across government offices.
The portal will be launched during a meeting of nodal officers of Special Campaign 6, public grievances and appellate authorities from all 84 Ministries and Departments of the Government of India.
The preparatory phase of the campaign will be held from September 16 to 30, while the implementation phase will run from October 2 to 31, 2026.
The Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG) has been the nodal department for coordinating and steering the Special Campaigns since 2021. The campaigns are aimed at institutionalising Swachhata and reducing pendency in government offices through a saturation approach.
Over 24.20 lakh sites covered since 2021
Across the five editions of the Special Campaign held between 2021 and 2025, along with monthly Secretariat Reforms monitoring up to July 2026, more than 24.20 lakh sites have been covered.
Over 180.48 lakh files have been weeded out or closed, while scrap disposal has generated more than ₹5,102.91 crore in revenue.
During Special Campaign 5 alone, nearly 11.6 lakh sites were covered, 29.52 lakh files were weeded out and around 233.75 lakh square feet of office space was freed. Scrap disposal during the campaign generated approximately ₹833.92 crore.
E-waste management among key focus areas
Special Campaign 6 will be conducted across Ministries and Departments, their attached, subordinate and autonomous offices, including field and outstation offices involved in public service delivery or having public interface.
Indian Missions abroad will also participate in the campaign.
The sixth edition will focus on consolidating best practices, including citizen-centric practices and inclusivity, while continuing to prioritise the effective collection, segregation and disposal of e-waste.
Preparatory phase to identify pendency, scrap
During the preparatory phase, Ministries and Departments will identify pendency in selected categories, mobilise ground-level functionaries and finalise campaign sites.
They will also review records, undertake space-management planning and initiate disposal of identified scrap.
The campaign follows a direction issued by the Cabinet Secretary to all Secretaries of the Government of India on August 5, 2026. DARPG subsequently issued detailed guidelines for Special Campaign 6 on August 13.
The best practices emerging from the campaign will be presented during Good Governance Week 2026, scheduled from December 19 to 25.
