India’s decision to leave out Mohammed Shami in the series opener raised eyebrows, but the veteran pacer is unlikely to remain on the sidelines for long. With the Champions Trophy around the corner, the selection committee will likely use this opportunity to assess Shami’s fitness and match readiness.

Ravi Bishnoi is expected to make way for Shami, as the team might opt for two specialist pacers in Chennai.
