Sports minister Mandaviya felicitates Indian PD cricket team, assures full govt support for ‘Divyang’ athletes

After cruising to a seven-wicket win in the opening T20I, the Suryakumar Yadav-led India will host England at the MA Chidambaram stadium for the second match of the series on Saturday.

India’s decision to leave out Mohammed Shami in the series opener raised eyebrows, but the veteran pacer is unlikely to remain on the sidelines for long. With the Champions Trophy around the corner, the selection committee will likely use this opportunity to assess Shami’s fitness and match readiness.

Ravi Bishnoi is expected to make way for Shami, as the team might opt for two specialist pacers in Chennai. In the first T20I, Arshdeep Singh was the lone frontline seamer, sharing the new ball duties with Hardik Pandya. However, considering Chepauk’s reputation for being spin-friendly, Washington Sundar could also find a place in the XI, possibly replacing Nitish Kumar Reddy.

India’s batting unit, which has been in scintillating form, is likely to remain unchanged, having dominated opposition attacks across varying conditions.

On the other hand, England is unlikely to make drastic changes despite their loss. However, with the Chennai pitch expected to assist spinners, they might include Rehan Ahmed at the expense of Gus Atkinson to strengthen their spin-bowling options.

India’s Probable XI for 2nd T20I vs England:
Abhishek Sharma, Sanju Samson (WK), Suryakumar Yadav (C), Tilak Varma, Hardik Pandya, Rinku Singh, Washington Sundar, Axar Patel, Arshdeep Singh, Mohammed Shami, Varun Chakravarthy

England’s Probable XI for 2nd T20I vs India:
Phil Salt (WK), Ben Duckett, Jos Buttler (C), Harry Brook, Liam Livingstone, Jacob Bethell, Jamie Overton, Rehan Ahmed, Jofra Archer, Adil Rashid, Mark Wood
