Amit Shah to launch nano-fertilizer subsidy scheme for farmers in Gujarat

Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Amit Shah is set to launch a significant agricultural initiative in Gujarat on July 6. The scheme will provide 50 percent assistance to farmers for the purchase of nano-fertilizers under the government’s AGR-2 Scheme for the financial year 2024-25.

Shah will unveil this program during the ‘Sahkar Se Samriddhi’ conference in Gandhinagar, coinciding with the 102nd International Day of Cooperatives. The Ministry of Cooperation announced that Shah will initiate payments to three farmers at the event, demonstrating the scheme’s immediate implementation.

The conference will also see the launch of ‘Bharat Organic Atta’ produced by the National Cooperative Organics Limited (NCOL), further emphasizing the government’s focus on promoting organic farming.

This year’s International Cooperative Day, celebrated annually on the first Saturday of July since 1923, carries the theme “Cooperatives Build a Better Future for All.” The date also marks the 3rd Foundation Day of the Ministry of Cooperation.

Following the conference, Shah will visit several cooperative societies in Gujarat. In Banaskantha, he will review milk producers’ transactions via RuPay KCC at micro-ATMs and distribute interest-free RuPay KCC to women cooperative members. His itinerary includes visits to Panchmahal district’s Angadia Arthksham Seva Sahakari Mandli and Aashapur Chhariya Milk Cooperative Society.

The Ministry of Cooperation has been proactive, implementing over 54 initiatives in the cooperative sector within a short period. This conference and Shah’s visits aim to reinforce the government’s commitment to cooperatives and their role in building a better future.

The event gains additional significance as the United Nations General Assembly has declared 2025 the International Year of Cooperatives (IYC2025). This aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of ‘Sahkar se Samriddhi’, further emphasizing the government’s focus on cooperative development as a means to national growth.
