Deploy full spectrum of counter-terror capabilities: PM Modi reviews security situation in Jammu and Kashmir

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday reviewed the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir with National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval and other senior officials, according to government sources.

PM Modi was briefed on the counter-terror efforts underway in the region.

During the meeting, PM Modi emphasized the importance of deploying the full spectrum of India’s counter-terror capabilities.

He spoke with Union Home Minister Amit Shah and discussed the deployment of security forces and counter-terror operations.

PM Modi also spoke with Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha to take stock of the situation and was briefed on the efforts being undertaken by the local administration.

The security review follows a series of recent terror attacks in the Jammu and Kashmir region.

The area has witnessed a surge in violence, with three terror attacks in Reasi, Kathua and Doda districts in the past few days.

Terrorists opened fire on a bus in Reasi district on Sunday, killing nine pilgrims and injuring 42 others.

On Wednesday, a constable of the Special Operations Group (SOG) sustained injuries in an encounter in Doda district, said the Jammu and Kashmir police.

While in Kathua, the gunfight erupted after two militants barged into a house in Saida village on Tuesday night, injuring a resident.
