An encounter between security forces and terrorists is currently underway in the Chak Taper Kreeri Pattan area of Baramulla district, Jammu and Kashmir, officials reported on Saturday.

The firefight began in the early hours of September 14, following a joint operation launched by the Indian Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police. The operation was based on specific intelligence about terrorist presence in the area.

“Based on specific intelligence input regarding the presence of terrorists, a joint operation was launched by Indian Army and J-K Police on the intervening night of 13-14 September in general area Chak Tapar Kreeri, Baramulla. Contact was established and firefight ensued,” Chinar Corps-Indian Army posted on X.

This incident comes just a day after a separate encounter in Kishtwar district claimed the lives of two army soldiers. The White Knight Corps confirmed the casualties on Friday, offering condolences to the families of the fallen soldiers. Two additional soldiers were injured in the Kishtwar encounter and are currently receiving medical treatment.

“GOC White Knight Corps and all ranks salute the supreme sacrifice of the Bravehearts; offer deepest condolences to the families,” the White Knight Corps wrote on X.
