PM Modi takes a swipe at opposition after massive cash seizure in Jharkhand

BJP leader and Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday said he is committed to eradicating corruption, as he criticized the opposition for denouncing his strong measures against financial crimes. He was referring to the recovery of a large amount of cash by the Enforcement Directorate during raids conducted at various locations in Jharkhand on Monday.

Addressing a public rally in Odisha’s Nabarangpur, PM Modi said: “Today, mountains of currency notes are being found in the neighbouring state Jharkhand. People are saying ‘chori ho gaya aur mal pakad raha Modi waha’ (A theft has occurred, yet Modi has successfully recovered the stolen goods).”

“Now tell me, if I stop the theft, stop the earning, stop the loot, won’t they abuse Modi?”

PM Modi also criticized the Biju Janata Dal (BJD)-led government in Odisha for obstructing the implementation of central government schemes in the state. He alleged that the BJD government failed to provide adequate opportunities to the young people in the state, allowed corruption to tarnish welfare schemes, and neglected women’s welfare.

PM Modi highlighted the central government’s financial assistance of Rs 6,000 to every pregnant woman, aimed at ensuring essential nutrition for mothers and children.

Additionally, PM Modi emphasized several initiatives launched by his government, including the Van Dhan Kendra Yojana, extension of reservation benefits for SCs and STs. He underscored the appointment of India’s first president from the country’s tribal communities during his leadership. PM Modi criticized the BJD government’s inefficiency in utilizing funds allocated by the Centre for schemes like the Jal Jeevan Mission, road infrastructure, and free rice distribution.

“You have seen the track record of Modi’s ten years of leadership. During these ten years, Modi increased the budget for tribal welfare by 5 times what it was before. Also, during these ten years, the number of Eklavya Model Residential Schools in the tribal areas crossed 400”, he said.

“BJD has not been able to reduce your problems in 25 years. Give BJP a chance once, we will make Odisha number one in five years. BJP will solve all your problems. Your welfare is paramount for BJP.”
